If you are preparing to take your DELE A2 or DELE B1 exam, you should know that in the Written Test you will be asked to write about different topics. These may vary from one task to the next, but there are a number of structures, expressions and phrases that will be very useful for you to pass.

Within the Spanish language, there are some structures that are used according to what you want to express, be it an emotion, a question, an opinion or an apology, among other options. It is important that you know which phrases are most suitable for each case. Let's get started!

First of all, it is common for you to be asked to express an emotion when taking the exam. Well, to do so, you can use the structure “What + emotion”, that is, “What a joy”, “What a sadness”, “What an illusion”. Another alternative is to use “Wow + emotion”, for example, “What a surprise”, “What an emotion”, among others.

Another structure that is mainly applied to express joy is “I'm happy for you”. For the more advanced level, if you already know the subjunctive, I recommend that you use “I'm glad that + subjunctive”, for example: “I'm glad you're well” or “I'm glad you made that trip”.

In the case of opinion structures, also present in the Written Test, you can use “I think...”, “I think...” or “I think...” and then give your opinion on a certain topic. If you already know the subjunctive (especially for DELE B1), you could say “It's okay/wrong that + subjunctive”.

In turn, in the written test, it is common to be asked to express an apology. In this case, you can use the “Forgive/Apologize, but it's just that...” structure, followed by the reason for your apology. For example, “Excuse me/excuse me, but I'm really busy” or “Excuse me/excuse me, but I can't go because I have a lot of things to do”.

Also, if in the instructions you are asked to propose, in an interrogative way you can use the structure “What if...?”. This applies, for example, as follows: “What if... we meet Saturday afternoon?” Another alternative is “What do you think if... we go to the movies?”

If you need to ask for someone else's opinion, you might find the structure “What do you think about...?” useful , followed by the topic you should ask about.

On the other hand, if the Written Test tells you to ask for someone's help, I recommend that you use the structure “I need your help for... + infinitive” or “I need your help with... + noun”. You can also express it as a question, meaning: “Can you help me with... + infinitive” or “Can you help me with... + noun?”

Meanwhile, if you already know the conditional one, you could also say: “Would you mind helping me with...?” You can even ask “Could you help me with...?”

Each of these structures can be used in the DELE A2 and DELE B1 Written Test. Try to apply them in the correct way and you will have the expected result on your exam.
