I'm going to give you 10 useful tips applicable to Task 1 of the DELE C1 Written Test, where you should first listen to the excerpt from a conference and then write a text in your own words to explain the ideas you have understood. Keep these recommendations in mind to raise your score.
1. Going from the objective to the subjective
One of the keys to writing your text is to start with the most objective part of the conference and then, little by little, to the most subjective.
That is, end with your opinion, but don't start with it. First, refer to the main points made by the speaker and leave your opinion for last, but don't forget to include it.
2. Impersonalise your text
Consider not using the first person at all times. Instead, you can write the text using impersonal phrases and only use โmeโ, if necessary, only in the final paragraph.
3. Divide text into paragraphs
It's important that the text you write is divided into several separate paragraphs. Each of them must have a beginning, but also an end.
The organization of the paragraphs is crucial. Keep in mind that the text must have a first paragraph that includes the introduction, another at the end with the conclusion and, in between, two or even three more paragraphs in which you must explain and analyze the topic of the conference in your own words.
4. Subtle introduction
The introduction of a text is of great importance and therefore it needs to be subtle, since it is the reader's first point of contact. Do not start by writing your opinion or that expressed by the person speaking at the conference, but rather try to give a delicate form to that introduction to, precisely, introduce the reader to the text and awaken their interest from the beginning.
5. Conclusion
Undoubtedly, as important as the introduction is the conclusion of the text, the final part, where you must now incorporate your opinion and you could even end this paragraph using an impactful phrase that can dazzle the reader and leave him reflecting on what you have written.
6. Use discursive markers
Don't forget to include a discursive bookmark every time you start writing a paragraph. Also use them in between paragraphs, as this will allow you to better relate and connect ideas, giving form and meaning to the content of the text.
7. Justify opinions
In all cases, you must always justify the opinions you are going to give, whether your own or that of the person speaking at the conference. Go ahead and develop that idea!
8. Use the present tense as a callsign
Even if the conference is recorded, don't write about it as if it were something that happened in the distant past. Talk about the topics addressed from the present, more precisely from the present as indicative, saying, for example โThe speaker states that...โ, And no โThe speaker stated that...โ
9. Include specific words
An interesting way to enrich the content of the text is to incorporate certain technicalities or cultured words specific to the topic you are dealing with. Pay attention and improve your text using some of those words!
10. Incorporate catchphrases, sayings or latinisms
Another tool to improve your text can be to incorporate a saying related to the topic, an idiom or a clichรฉ, which will undoubtedly enrich your writing. You can also include some Latinism (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd2y6xzQAr0), something that will surely reinforce what you write and will raise your grade.
